Cardio and Weightloss

The experts tell you to do the cardio and weightloss will follow naturally. Bodies use different kinds of energy throughout the day depending upon the activity involved. For example, anaerobic exercises use carbohydrates, whereas aerobic exercises use fat stored in the body.

Anaerobic exercises are like weight training exercises where you need short bursts of intense energy.

Cardio is aerobic activity which requires sustained energy use. When you do cardio, you force your body to use fat stores for energy. Cardio will do the following:

Cardio and weightloss form a productive team that uses stored fat in the body. Fat burns slowly giving you the sustained energy you need to perform the exercises. Aerobics are fat-burning exercises that produce many results.

When you do cardio, and weightloss is your goal, you raise your heart rate up to 70% of the maximum target rate. If you do this for at least 30 minutes per sessions for 3 to 5 times a week, you will see significant improvements in your cardiovascular health followed by weight loss.

Cardio workouts are intended to be high intensity to make your heart work. But the best news about cardio and weightloss is you can still lose weight doing moderate or even low level cardio.

When doing cardio, and weightloss is your goal, it is possible to adapt the program to all age groups. Cardio can be done at varying levels including low impact. Senior citizens or people who are just starting a fitness program often start with low impact cardio workouts first.

When you hire a personal trainer to customize your fitness program, a complete assessment of current activity levels will be completed. The personal trainer can work with you to determine what level to start your cardio and weightloss program on.

Cardio is one element of a complete fitness program. Cardio, strength training and nutritional counseling are designed to help you meet your goals. It doesn't really matter if you have to start with low impact aerobics or cardio, because if you follow the program your personal trainer designs, you will progress to the next level quickly.
