Extreme Weightloss Drugs

The availability of extreme weightloss drugs is a sign of the times. In general, our society looks for quick fixes. There's fast food, convenience stores, instant text messaging and rapid weight loss.

Going to Extremes

The problem lies in the fact the body is not a machine and cannot be rebuilt to accommodate the desire for quick weight loss. The body operates under biological laws you cannot change. Rapid weightloss is dangerous, and your body responds by acting as if it is under attack. If rapid weightloss was a natural process there would be no extreme weightloss drugs needed.

Yet everyday people fall prey to the claims of companies that sell extreme weightloss drugs. Marketers know just how to make you believe they have the perfect and simple cure for obesity. Just pop a pill and the weight dissolves.

That's right, isn't it? No, that's wrong!

The reason they had to invent the term "yo-yo" dieting is because people lose weight magically and then just as mysteriously end up heavier than before the diet. So they try again. In desperation, many turn to extreme weightloss drugs in the belief that if they could lose the desired weight just once more they would be able to keep it off.

If this sounds like you, there's a message you need to listen to very carefully. The message is as follows: Extreme weightloss drugs don't work! Using drugs to lose weight is dangerous to your health and ineffective. You may lose the weight rapidly, but it will be temporary, and that's not what you want in your life.

Easy Does It

It is so easy to believe all the hype that is presented ever day concerning rapid weight loss. There are promises that you can take the extreme weightloss drugs and eat all you want in the meantime, while still losing weight. There are statements promising the drugs make dieting easy – you won't be hungry with the magic pills.

Of course, there are pictures of svelte women and muscle bound men in the ads who swear the weight loss drugs are the reason they look so great. They don't talk about the fact they exercise regularly or that it's the third time they've had to lose weight.

Extreme weightloss drugs are not appropriate for anyone including those who are obese. Anything that is considered extreme is usually not beneficial. Weight loss should occur at a slow rate and as a result of increased exercise levels and reduced calories.

In other words, you need to eat food that is nutritionally sound. This takes dietary planning, but the results will be weight loss that lasts. Good nutrition, coupled with increased activity to burn calories, will create a slow weight loss that makes sense and is sustainable.

The general rule of thumb is losing 2 pounds a week is safe weight loss. Each pound is the equivalent of 3,500 calories. To lose 2 pounds, you must intake fewer calories, while using more calories through exercise, for a total of 7,000 calories.

Looking at the numbers, it's easier to understand why extreme weight loss is unhealthy. To lose 5 pounds a week equates to 17,500 calories. People who try to cut back on their food intake in extreme portions seldom succeed. They turn to weightloss drugs and only aggravate the problem.

Lose your weight the right way – slowly and through proper diet and exercise.
